01The problem
Source: Real-test facts: Bain’s and Sova’s candidate pages and prep-site reports, dated in our Bain guide (checked 23 Sep 2026)..
School maths rewards exact answers. This test rewards the fastest answer that is precise enough.
02The fix
The middle step of Find, Fix, Full run: timed sets in the section you already know is weak, and the explanation for every miss before you retake.
Passage
Riverton Bus Company introduced contactless payment on all 120 of its buses in March. Ridership in the six months after the change was 8% higher than in the same period a year earlier. The company's chief executive attributed the increase to faster boarding. Over the same period, the city raised parking charges in the central district.
1Faster boarding caused the rise in ridership.
2Contactless payment is available on every Riverton bus.
3Ridership fell in the six months after March, year on year.

04Proof
Watch the 48-second walkthrough: numerical table questions appear from about 0:26. The free session is verbal only, with a per-question timer, so it shows how explanations work.
The shortcuts in the explanations were things nobody ever taught me.
I almost didn't take the test at all, so thank you for asking.
I applied on a Sunday night, kind of on a whim. I work in hospital operations and haven't done real math since sophomore stats. When the link came on Wednesday I did a practice set and got 41%. I really told myself Bain isn't for people like me.
My sister said, "Buy one module. It's $20, that's lunch." So I did the Numerical module over two evenings, about 90 questions. 41, then 63, then 74. The shortcuts in the explanations were things nobody ever taught me.
I passed. I have my first interview with the Denver office in two weeks, and I'm (mostly) excited instead of terrified.
The cheat sheet I made is taped to my monitor at work.
